Ghanashyam Misra And Sons Pvt Ltd. (Gms) Is The Flagship Company Of The Group, Which Have Been In The Mining Business For The Past Four Decades, Was Incorporated By Late Mr. Ghanashyam Misra In 1970. Today, The Group Has Mining Operations At Gorumahisani Iron Ore Mines In The Mineral Rich Belt Of Mayur Bhanj District In The State Of Orissa Having A Capacity To Deliver About 2 Million Tpa Of High Grade Iron-Ore (Fe Content Of 64% - 66%). Gorumahisani Iron Ore Mines Is Known In The Pages Of Human History As Being The First Iron Ore Mines In India And Second In South-East Asia. It Was Developed In 1910, By Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanj Deo Ruler Of Princely State Of Mayurbhanj. He Appointed Pramoth Nath Bose, A Leading Geologist In 1908 To Survey The Ore Deposits. Later The Mines Were Leased To Tata Steel. India's First Iron Ore Mines At Gorumahisani Dispatched Iron Ore To The Steel Works At Jamshedpur In 1911. Premature Surrender In 1968 And Granted In Favour Of M/S Ghanashyam Misra And Sons Private Limited In 1970. We Are Proud To Say That The First Excavated Iron Ore Boulder Is Still At Display At The Mines. Gorumahisani Iron Ore Mine Is A Fully Mechanised Mines Having Its Own Fleet Of Dumpers And Equipment. It Has A Retained Area Of More Than 500 Hectares With 6 Major Ore Bearing Faces With Expected Reserves Of More Than 100 Million Tonnes Of High Grade Ore (Above 63+). It Also Has Proven Reserves Of More Than 150 Million Tonnes Of Fe - 61 And Below. Further Exploration Is Being Done. It Has Private Railway Sidings With Loading Capacity To Load 2 Rakes In A Day. Having Environmental And Forest Clearance For Mining More Than 7 Million Tonnes Per Annum And Proximity To Ports Of Haldia, Paradip, Vizag & Kakinada It Has Become An Important Mines In Eastern India.
